A review of Captain Marvel by Lewis.

ORIGIN: Captain Marvel is a superhero not a villain . She has energy powers and originally comes from earth but her mind was wiped from an explosion that had gave her the powers.

She used to be an airforce pilot before she was given the power she has now. Her power came from a fuel that was six times the speed of sound and she had shot the fuel so the Kree couldn’t get it because the Kree were planning to do something evil with it.

The fuel involved the Tesseract, an infinity stone.

ABOUT THE MOVIE:

Captain Marvel has a 78% rating which is pretty good.

I can admit that it is a good movie because I’ve seen it myself of course. The movie runs for 2h 5 mins.

The main characters of the movie are:

Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel/Brie Larson

Nick Fury/Samuel Jackson

Talos/Ben Mendelsohn

Yon-Rogg/Jude Law.

The movie was released on 8 March 2019.

Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck with the character was created by the one and only Stan Lee.

Extra facts about Captain Marvel:

Carol Danvers started out as an airforce pilot for Pegasus.

After the accident that led to her receiving her powers, Carol became a NASA whistleblower.

My opinion about the movie:

I give it an overall solid 9 out of ten. I thought it was a great story with a good amount of great action scenes too.

ASHLEY SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY

On Friday the 17th the senior school walked down to the Marshall-Lees farm for cross country. The races started off with the year 7’s going first and then it went year 5’, year 4’s, year 6’s and year 8’s. I am a year 8 so I went towards the end. There were only four people in my race because Isabella and Olivia couldn’t race. We had to run 3k in 14:30 minutes. I came first which I am so happy about, and I made the time.

Just before my race the year 1, 2, and 3’s came to do their races. I ran with some of the little kids in their race. They were so cute when they ran, and when they went through the mud pit, some of their faces were so funny.

When all of the races were finished we went back to school. The day went really well.

I have also done the Tri- schools and came 4th and made the time, so I am going to go through to the Rakahuri zones next week which I am super nervous about.

Hunter has written a review of the movie ‘Boy’.

The famous Taika Waititi film Boy is an amazing movie based in New Zealand. But I think only people that are 13 or over should watch it.

This movie is one of the best movies I’ve ever watched, and it is definitely one of my favourite movies.

The main character is called Boy. He has a little brother called Rocky. When Rocky was born his Mum died. Now he thinks that he has superpowers and made his Mum die when he was born.

Boy loves Michael Jackson and he can even do Michael Jackson dance moves. Not!

Boy’s dad Alamein is a very irresponsible Dad for a lot of reasons. Alamein went to jail but he brought a spoon with him so he dug a hole with the spoon to escape and magically got away from the guards by attacking them with the spoon.

It took Boy a while to figure out that Alamein was not a good Dad.

I think it’s a really good movie I rate it about 8/10 but If you don’t like movies with a little bit of violence then this movie isn’t for you, because Boy sees his dad getting beaten up. But if you want to still try it out I really recommend it.

Bohemian Rhapsody Movie Report: Israel

Bohemian Rhapsody a new movie released on 1st November 2018, was a movie to tell the story of the well known band named Queen and their songs they wrote and sang.

Let’s talk about Freddie Mercury and the background of his life. Freddie Mercury or should I say Farrokh Bulsara was born 5th September 1946 and died 24th November 1991 due to AIDs.

Freddie was born in Tanzania Stone Town and took piano lessons at St Peter’s school.

Now to move on to the actor himself Rami Malek. Rami Malek played the role of Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody with his mates Ben Hardy playing Roger Taylor the drummer, Gwilym Lee playing Brian May the guitarist, Joseph Mazzello playing John Deacon and Lucy Boynton playing Freddies wife, Mary Austin.

The astonishing movie was shot in London at the original Wembley Stadium and produced by Graham King and Queen’s manager himself Jim Beach.

My favourite scene of the movie would have to be when the band takes a tour of America, performs in a concert and sings Fat Bottomed Girls.

My favourite song from Queen would have to be Love of my life partly because it talks about Freddie Mercury and his relationship with Mary Austin.

I think that Bohemian Rhapsody is a marvellous movie and I recommend it for people that are a massive fan of Queen like me.

This is Eden’s 100 WC for SCOOTER, EXCITEDLY, ROSE, TRANSPARENT, LATE.

“BYE MUM, SEE YA!” I yelled.

I grabbed my Scooter and made the escape for the wide open.

The breeze made me feel like I was free, except from people around me.

I  made my way to the flower shop, breathed in and I got a whiff of all the flowers.

“They all smell so nice. I’d like a rose.”

I stood and waited excitedly for an answer.

“Sorry we don’t have any roses, come tomorrow.”

All shops are transparent but it doesn’t amuse me, instead I head home.

I got back, it was late when I arrived at home.

Ciara’s week overdue 100 WC!

I stumble down a flight of stairs, my head is in excruciating pain, I stagger towards a red circle, I lie there wounded and limp.  Out of nowhere, a blood curdling scream…

“ARGH!” I can faintly see a crowd of tall figures, they gather around the circle and start chanting. I collect myself enough to stand up and see what was occurring. I finally realize what was happening,

“NO!” I scream at the top of my lungs.

“Stop right there!” They turn to face me, I still could not see their faces yet they were oddly familiar.

Crunch…

“Oh no..”

Cross Country Recount

On Friday the 17th of May it was cross country day. That morning everyone was excited. When we were walking to cross country we were all chatting to each other about racing.

When we arrived we were told where to sit and we waited for the first race to start. The first racers were on the track and everyone was cheering for them. It was great to have our parents there to cheer us on.

Before long all of the races were finished so Mr Mullan gave a speech. We started walking back to school with our parents and teachers.

That afternoon most people were happy and pleased with themselves, it was a great activity.

Some lucky kids made it through to tri schools. Tri schools was held on Tuesday the 21st of May.

On the day of tri schools the kids that qualified got driven by parents to the Loburn Domain rugby field. This is where tri schools was held. The two other schools competing were Loburn and North Loburn, so with Ashley, had to walk around the track we were running on so we knew where to run.

After a while the races started, everyone was running their hardest. When all the races were finished, everyone went home or got driven back to school. A couple of kids did really well in their race at tri schools and qualified for the next level – the Rakahuri event.

Rakahuri is going to be held on the 28th of May.

Maisie has completed the 100 WC for this week.

The 100 WC needs to contain the following 5 words: ROSE  TRANSPARENT  EXCITEDLY  SCOOTER   LATE

“Come on ROSE” I yell at  my little sister.

“We have to go now,  we’ll be LATE for the party.”

While driving to the party Rose is sitting EXCITEDLY in the back seat.

“Stop wriggling around!” I say. “Otherwise I will drop you off right here and you can ride that lime SCOOTER to the party”.

“Ugh,” she replies.

We stop to grab some sticky tape to wrap up the present, then we finally arrive at the party, but late. At the party new curtains are being hung.

“OMG!” Rose says, look at the curtains!”

“I know, they’re so TRANSPARENT!”

Connor S has done a book report on ‘Stormbreaker’ by Anthony Horowitz.

– You’re never too young to die…

A quote from Alex Rider in the explosive book Stormbreaker which starts off with a boy Alex losing Ian Rider‘’his father” in a so called “car accident”.  Alex started getting suspicious with this dreadful news which left him with his housekeeper Jack.

At the funeral Alex was left to talk with his father’s friends who had worked with him at the bank. Alex got even more suspicious when he saw another one of Ian Rider’s friends with a pistol on the inside of his shirt.

The next chapter Heaven for Cars answers everyone’s questions , who is the man really and why does he have a gun?

Anthony Horowitz is an English author who is well known for his Horror Horowitz series and his jaw dropping Alex Rider books. Anthony has won multiple book awards such as Hampshire Book award, Lancashire Book of the Year and also the 2001 Children’s Book award. His most common books are both mysterious and adventurous .

In my opinion I think this book is well written and I also like how it flows on to the next novel Point Blank. Personally I have read all the novels in the Alex Rider series. I would recommend the book Stormbreaker to all ages who love reading adventurous books.

Amber describes someone she looks up to…

WHO IS MY HERO?

Alejandro Aranda is my HERO, a hero… what does a hero mean?

hero/ˈhɪərəʊ/  noun

  1. a person who is admired for their courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.      “a war hero”

synonyms: brave man, champion, man of courage, great man, man of the hour, conquering hero, victor, winner, conqueror, lionheart, warrior, paladin, knight, white hat.

When I talk about a hero I mean someone who I look up to, not exactly because I wanna be them or like them, but they are someone who inspires me and shows courage and honesty and he is humble.

And this is my hero; Alejandro Aranda.

Alejandro has struggled through many battles in life, After many rounds of competition, Alejandro was up against Laine Hardy and Madison VanDenburg for the title of American Idol on Sunday, May 19. But there is no question that Alejandro had a big shot at being the winner this year.

He grew up in Pomona, California, and was homeschooled. Alejandro is a 24-year-old artist and dishwasher and he didn’t pick music up until “later on in his life” he taught himself how to sing. Belting out tunes in the street and playing his guitar eventually helped Alejandro get over his fear of stage fright.

His guitar playing is amazing here is a link to him playing his guitar.

He spent his childhood learning different musical instruments like guitar, keyboard, and others. Alejandro was fascinated by singing since he was young and he has put in a lot of hard work to make his singing dream a reality.

Alejandro is my hero because he is humble and carries on no matter what, through tough and easy times and he always has the right attitude!
