WHAT THE DOG BARKED AT – BY ARABELLA
I go fishing and a dog catches my eye as I start getting the bait on my hook.
It starts barking at me as it sees the bait on my hook. I ignore it, then it runs at me and starts tugging my pants.
I stroll over huffing and puffing as I just want to fish. Now I see what it is barking at. A very long, brown, hissing snake which is odd, as there are never snakes in Iceland.
I stare at it. It hisses at me. I scream “ Ahhhhh!”
I try running but the dog doesn’t let me.
ARABELLA – YEAR 6
Hello Arabella, the snake was a surprise in your story. I must admit I’m pretty scared of snakes. I like how you indicated it was strange to have snakes in Iceland. We have lots in Australia. You have used some really good descriptive words in your story that helps engage the reader in your story. The actions of the dog are so typical so it helps build a picture for the reader. Well done.
