TUSHIL HAS A LAUGH!
PROMPT: …then the crowd erupted with laughter…
I was practising my joke and getting ready for the comedy show. Me and the others were only doing one joke each. When we were ready we came on stage and the curtains opened.
We lined up and said our jokes one at a time. I was at the back of the line so I would be last. Nobody laughed at any of the jokes, and then the time came. I said my joke:
“Why do we tell actors to break a leg? Because every play has a cast!” At first nobody laughed, but then the crowd erupted with laughter.
TUSHIL – YEAR 6
Hello! Comedy is such a hard thing. I like how you showed this and set the scene to engage the reader, (will or won’t the audience laugh at the last joke?). “Break a leg” is a strange thing to say to a performer but every time I hear it now, it will bring a smile to my face as I will be able to think of your joke. Well done.
