Holly wonders…
…but does it make any difference to me?…
Did you know, according to recent estimates, the world is losing 137 species of plants, animals and insects every day to deforestation?
But does it make any difference to me? Yes or no I’ll give you your answer.
Well, where should I start?
Deforestation degrades soil quality, but our kind so dearly loves fruits, vegetables and meats. Have you ever thought about where this comes from? You need good healthy soil to grow grass for animals, and that’s the same for vegetables, fruits and our food.
So if we don’t ever make a change what would we be stuck eating?
HOLLY – YEAR 8
Hello Holly,
As usual, your entry is of a high standard and has made good use of the prompt. It points out the problem of deforestation and hints at the need for sustainable farming for the future. Well done.

Thanks for the responses which you do for Holly, Ross. I am her class teacher and this year she has set herself a goal of doing as many 100WC’s as possible, and the wonderful thing is seeing the incredible development in her writing.
